Opal is a stone of psychic awareness. It is related to the moon, and (like a full moon) can sometimes bring hidden aspects of ourselves to the surface so we can deal with them.
Rainbow Opal reflects a variety of pastel colours such as green, pink, yellow, light red and as such is related to vision. Wear this crystal when you want to associate and become comfortable with the ideas of 'I can have everything I ever dreamed of' or 'I believe in the promised land'. In the Native American tradition opals are often used to help invoke visions and are often carried on vision quests because of their association with bringing inspiration and insight. The opal used in these earrings is of the highest quality and reflects back a variety of colours that move slightly as you look at them from different angles. The feathers hang loosely which gives a lovely dangling effect.
Size of Earrings: Opal crystal is about 6mm diameter. Feathers about 25mm (1 inch) long
Size of Necklace: (See above for Opal / Feather sizing), chain approximately 18 inches (45 cms) long.
More About Opal
Opals have a long history and have been associated with all sorts of legends and tales. Thieves and spies used to wear opals, as they believed they could help make them invisible and undetectable, and the Native American Indian and Australian Aboriginal shamans used opals to invoke visions. The Australian Aborigines also say that the creator came down to earth on a rainbow bringing a message of peace to the world. At the very spot where his feet touched the ground, the stone became alive and sparkled with all the colours of the rainbow. And it was there that opals were said to heave been created.
Opals have an inspiring energy, and are often used as a tool for awakening psychic and mystical abilities. They also have an air of strength, reminding us of the importance of maintaining relationships, whether friendships, love or business.
More About the Symbol of the Feather
Feathers are used consistently throughout Native American crafts and ceremonial tools. Birds fly inbetween the earth and the sky and as such feathers represent this connection between us as humans and Great Spirit. Of course a feather is not essential to contact God or be in tune with Spirit. It is a tool - a reminder. Feathers are like a link. You can hold them while praying, you can use a feather to brush smudge smoke over you for cleansing the aura and can have them in crafts and jewellery about you to remind you that you are always connected to Spirit.
